1.1 Aerospace
As far as aviation materials are concerned, structural weight reduction and the integration of structural load bearing and function are important directions for the development of aircraft structural materials. In this way, it is not necessary to specially supply magnesium liquid to the pressure chamber during each cycle of die casting, so the production can be fast, continuous and easy to realize automation. Die casting machines can be divided into hot chamber die casting machines and cold chamber die casting machines according to the way the magnesium liquid is fed into the metal cavity. The use of the agent is more convenient, low production cost, good protection effect, suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises production characteristics.
1.2 Military Field
Magnesium alloy light weight, good specific strength and stiffness, good vibration absorption function, strong electromagnetic interference shielding ability and other characteristics can meet the military products for weight reduction, noise absorption, shock absorption, radiation protection requirements. Practice has proved that flux protection and SF6, SO2, CO2, Ar and other gas protection laws are effective flame retardant methods, but they will produce severe environmental pollution in the application, and make the alloy function reduced, equipment investment increased. The economic and functional benefits of reducing weight in aviation materials are so obvious that a commercial aircraft would save nearly 100 times as much fuel as a car by losing the same amount of weight. Now the commonly used flux is mainly composed of anhydrous carnallite (MgCI2 -- KC), adding some fluoride and chloride.
1.3 Automotive Field
Magnesium alloys used as auto parts usually show the following advantages:
1) Improve the comprehensive scale of fuel economy, reduce exhaust emission and fuel cost. It is estimated that 60% of the fuel used by the vehicle is consumed by the weight of the vehicle, and the fuel consumption will be reduced by 8-10% for every 10% reduction in the weight of the vehicle;
2) The weight reduction can increase the loading capacity and payload of the vehicle, and also improve the braking and acceleration function;
3) It can greatly improve the noise and vibration of vehicles.
2) Cold chamber die casting machine. For example, the corrosion resistance of electroless magnesium alloys exceeds that of stainless steel. In most cases, cold chamber die casting machines are used for large, thick wall, stressed and special die-casting parts. A large number of harmful gases are released in the process of use, which pollutes the environment and erodes the plant severely. Adding Ca and Zr to Mg-Zn and Mg-Y alloys can obviously refine the grain size and improve the tensile strength and yield strength. The addition of Ag and Th can improve the mechanical properties of Mg-Re-Zr alloy. For example, QE22A alloy containing Ag has high tensile properties at room temperature and creep resistance properties, and has been widely used as high quality castings for aircraft and missiles. By means of rapid solidification powder metallurgy, high extrusion ratio and equal channel Angle extrusion (ECAE), the grain of magnesium alloy can be processed very fine, thus high strength, high plasticity and even superplasticity can be obtained. In 2000, it broke the 100,000t mark.
